Book – Project Hail Mary
Author – Andy Weir
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission—and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.
Except that right now, he doesn’t know that. He can’t even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.
All he knows is that he’s been asleep for a very, very long time. And he’s just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.
His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it’s up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery—and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.
And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he’s got to do it all alone.
Or does he?
Goodreads Synopsis
Out of This World
If you’re a fan of science fiction, then you’re probably already familiar with the work of Andy Weir. He’s the author of the bestselling novel The Martian, which was later adapted into an Academy Award-nominated film starring Matt Damon. Weir’s latest novel, Project Hail Mary, is a return to form for the author. It’s a fast-paced story that takes place in our solar system, and it’s full of the same wit and realism that made The Martian so popular.
Hard Science Fiction
Hard sci-fi is a genre of science fiction that focuses on realism and accuracy, often using math and science to explore the consequences of futuristic inventions and ideas. While other genres of science fiction may take a more light-hearted approach, hard sci-fi is all about exploring the potential implications of new technologies and ideas. This often means that hard sci-fi stories can be complex and detailed, delving deeply into the science behind the fiction. However, this attention to detail can also make hard sci-fi stories very engaging and fascinating, giving readers a glimpse into a possible future where the laws of physics are pushed to their limits. If you’re looking for a thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating read, then hard sci-fi is definitely the genre for you.
I may not be smart enough to understand all of it, but boy do I LOVE IT!

“I penetrated the outer cell membrane with a nanosyringe.”
“You poked it with a stick?”
“No!” I said. “Well. Yes. But it was a scientific poke with a very scientific stick.”Hard sci-fi at it’s best

Should I Read It?
Hell yeah you should. This was a fantastic book, and I highly recommend checking out the Audible version; the included sound effects really pulled the story together. This might be one of, if not THE best, book I read last year!
